She opened her first salon when she was only 18 years old with only
$400.00. The salon was a modest 385 square feet, but she had bigger
dreams and aspirations. It took less than 2 years and she had
expanded to 3,000 square feet to accommodate 10 nail technicians and
4 cosmetologists.
News of Tammy's success quickly spread
through the Los Angles and Orange County areas, soon nail
technicians from competing salons began calling Tammy for
professional and educational information. During this time period
she was also busy developing her own line of high quality products
to use in her own salon and sell to other professionals.
Tammy
capitalized on the absence of education in the industry and expanded
her salon to include a training classroom to teach other nail
professionals how to sculpt beautiful nails. She held her classes on
Sundays so nail technicians could attend without impacting their
business and used the products she developed in these classes.
Tammy's reputation for the highest quality nail products and
in-depth education quickly spread throughout the United States. Her
nail products and classes were so popular she started teaching
classes and selling product worldwide.
In 1990 Tammy took
another big step and published the book "The Complete Guide to
Manicuring and Nail Technology" in English and Spanish. Today, all
states requiring licensing for nail technicians use this book for
the basis of their State Board Examinations.
