"I Have been doing nails 2 1/2 years and
I am not making enough money."

Dear Tammy,

I have been doing nails for 2 1/2 years and I am not making enough money. I would like to make about $800.00 a week and I don’t want to work a lot of hours. Do you have any suggestions?

Lisa Johnson

You need to decide how many hours you want to work: 20 hrs, 30 hrs, 40 hrs or 50 hrs. Then divide the amount you want to make by the hours you want to work.

Want to Earn Week

800.00 ÷
800.00 ÷
800.00 ÷
800.00 ÷

Hours to Work

20 hrs
30 hrs
40 hrs
50 hrs

 Charge per Hour

= $40.00
= $26.67
= $20.00
= $16.00

After you determine how much per hour you will need. Adjust your prices and schedule accordingly.

As you can see, it is better to charge more and work less or charge more and work more, but it is not good to charge less and work more. If you need 30 clients a week every week you will need 90 clients because some clients come in every 2

weeks, 3 weeks and 4 weeks. We prefer 2 weeks but sometimes it doesn’t happen that way.

To ensure a Full Schedule every week, here is a chart

estimating how many total clients you will need when you are seeing 20, 30, 40 or 50 clients each week.

Clients wanted
Each week

20 clients a week
30 clients a week
40 clients a week
50 clients a week

Total Clientele Needed to
stay booked every week

=    60  Total Clients needed
=    90  Total Clients needed

=  120  Total Clients needed
=  150  Total Clients needed

To further help you reach your goal faster, I have put together a test to evaluate yourself and steps to promoting yourself.

Good Luck,
